(AVOCA) - Lawrence county police pursued a Bedford man traveling at speeds of up to 70 miles an hour on Highway 37.
The chase began at Highway 54/58 at the Avoca turnoff when a 1998 black Grand Am passed police at "mach 6" according to one police officer.
The driver ran through a red light and turned onto 16th Street in Bedford. Bedford police helped in the pursuit and stopped 56-year-old Clarence Francis in the Bedford Regional Medical Center parking lot. Francis was charged with resisting arrest by fleeing in a vehicle.
