(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University is mourning five graduate students who died in a plane crash early Friday morning.

The plane was coming from West Lafayette, IN when it disappeared from radar near the Monroe County airport. It took investigators over four hours to find the wreckage because of heavy fog in the area.

Preliminary indications show the five students died instantly from blunt force trauma. The coroner's office is awaiting results of the toxicology tests.

Killed in the crash were 27-year-old Chris Carlucci of Michigan; 25-year-old Garth Eppley of Wabash, IN; 24-year-old Georgina Joshi of South Bend, IN; 25-year-old Zachary Novak of Anderson, IN; and 24-year-old Robert Samuels of Ohio.

Georgina Joshi is reported to be piloting the plane that day.
