(BLOOMINGTON) — Workers began demolition yesterday on Indiana University’s former Kappa Sigma fraternity house.
Historic preservation groups had tried in vain to save the house.
Composer and Bloomington native Hoagy Carmichael used to play piano there in the 1930s. The house has been vacant for ten years now and university officials say it was a safety hazard.
