Dogwood Festival Sans Rides

Last updated on Friday, April 21, 2006

(ORLEANS) - Rumors have been spreading on the fate of this year’s Dogwood Festival in Orleans.

D.P. Amusements owned by Don Creek has been providing the rides for the festival for many years, however, Creeks son-in-law was killed in a recent auto accident. His daughter was severely injured. He has been attending to his daughter and will be unable to set up the entertainment.

People have been saying the Dogwood Festival is canceled but that is not true. According to Theresa from the Orleans Town Hall the festival will go on as planned. Officials have begun looking for an alternative to the rides.

Many activities have been planned during the festival including the Dogwood Festival Queen Contest on Saturday April 29th and the Little Miss Contest on Sunday April 30th. The Dogwood Festival Parade is set for Saturday May 6th in downtown Orleans at 2:00pm.
