BLOOMINGTON—The effects of a national tissue recall have reached Bloomington.
Late Friday afternoon, Bloomington Hospital announced that eight patients received tissue during surgery which might not have gone through a proper donor screening and documentation process.
Regeneration Technology Services is a tissue processor the hospital buys from. It is one of five tissue providers that received material form Biomedical Tissue Services.
The Food and Drug Administration shut BTS down last month after investigators learned the New Jersey-based company was recovering human tissue products from unwilling donors in funeral homes.
