Scottsburg Fire Kills Woman and Child
(SCOTTSBURG) - A 3-year-old child and 22-year-old woman died in a mobile home fire in Scottsburg Monday night.
Fire investigators were called to the trailer after witnesses reported what might have been an explosion.
Scottsburg Police Chief Delbert Meeks says six people had been living in the trailer. Two residents with burn injuries were flown to Louisville hospitals for treatment. A juvenile male was transported to Scott County Hospital.
Teresa Kratzman, who works at a nearby gas station, tried to get to the peole in the burning trailer, but the flames were too intense.
A methamphetamine lab team was called to the scene, but nothing indicating meth activity was found. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
