(BEDFORD) - At 9:42 a.m. Tuesday, Bedford Police responded to an active bank alarm at the Monroe County Bank branch on 16th street in Bedford.
When officers arrived they learned the bank had been robbed by a white male described as 5' 8" to 5' 10", believed to be in his 20's, slim build, wearing a bright orange, hooded, zip-up sweatshirt, tennis shoes, and blue nylon jogging type pants that had a white stripe down each leg.
The robber displayed a handgun and demanded money from the tellers. The suspect then fled the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of money. Officers from the Bedford Police Department, Lawrence County Police Department, Indiana State Police and FBI searched the area but were unable to locate the thief.
The Bedford Police Department is asking that anyone who saw someone matching that description, or anyone suspicious on foot in the area of the Monroe County Bank during the time of the robbery, to contact the Bedford Police Department Detective Division at 275-3311.
