(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Plan Commission Board met at City Hall last night.
Beginning the meeting, several plots of land along John Williams Boulevard were rezoned from light industrial to business. A shopping center is planned for one plot. Bedford Federal Savings Bank is wanting to possibly build a branch bank in another plot on the city street.
Glen Meadows Development Company requested a major subdivision of land just east of town off Highway 50. The subdivision will be known as Meadowlake Overlook and contain 15 building lots.
In new business, Bedford Mayor Joe Klumpp addressed the board to start the Bedford Redevelopment Commission. The Commission would oversee construction projects for the city using TIF monies.
Klumpp says there would be no tax hike to build the fund. It would simply remove a percentage from the current tax base and save it in an account for future development. One of the first projects would be a road from James Avenue to the new WalMart.
The board unanamously passed the resolution.
