Major Gas Break Caused By Bad Weather
UNDATED—Heavy rains and high winds were prevalent Thursday as a large warm front hung in the area.
Vectren officials report a major leak to a gas line running under White River in Seymour. The reported leak has shut down service to most homes, buildings and schools in the Jackson County city. Officials say it could take days before service is restored. Crews will determine whether the leak was caused by heavy rainfall and strong water current. About 6,100 Vectren customers are now without natural gas.
In Medora and Crothersville power was out for a while due to the high winds. Martin County reports high water over several roads. Those in Orange County connected to REMC Electric were without power for about four hours. Several roads in Lawrence and Washington Counties where under water Friday morning.
