Collman's Murderer Will Not Get Death Sentence
(BROWNSTOWN) - Anthony Stockelman has admitted he molested and murdered Katie Collman.
Stockelman has pleaded guilty in connection with the death of the 10-year-old Crothersville girl last year.
Katie Collman disappeared in January 2005. Her body was found several days later in a creek several miles from her home. Her hands were bound and the cause of death was drowning.
Stockelman was facing a June trial. In exchange for the guilty plea, the prosecutor has agreed not to seek the death penalty. Instead, Stockelman is facing a maxium sentence of life in prison without parole. His attorney says Stockelman is "very sorry for everything that has happened."
Stockelman's wife says she had no idea her husband was a child molester and killer. Tabitha Stockelman says she'll divorce her husband. A Jackson county judge will sentence Stockelman April 17th.
