BEDFORD—The Bedford City Council’s regular meeting was held at the City Hall last night.
Beginning the meeting was a request for rezoning an area of John Williams Boulevard near "X" street. Todd Thomas and Mark T. Taylor, of TNT Computers, asked the board to change the two lots from light industrial to business so they could build a mini-mall plaza that would hold as many as 7 businsess. The request was tabled until the April meeting.
The Bedford City Council also discussed whether or not to eliminate road blocks in the city for area clubs and organizations. The board voted through a second passage, but declined the third and final vote until the local service clubs could be contacted. The final vote is expected in the April meeting.
And a tax abatement fee proposal was discussed setting a 15% tax rate for new businesses. The Indiana Senate changed the tax abatement bill which prompted the issue. The group will schedule a fact-finding meeting to obtain more information.
The next Bedford City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday night, April 11, 2006 at the Bedford City Hall.
