SHOALS—A hearing was held in Martin County Wednesday night with nearly 300 people in attendance to discuss time zones in the area.

Martin County Commission Michael Dant says Martin County would be pivotal in urging the other counties to change.

Dant urged those in attendance to call the Governor, the Speaker of the House, and teh U.S. Department of Transportation to express their views.

Martin County was recently granted its request to move to Central Time. however, County officials may now ask all of their neighbors to instead choose Eastern Time so that the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center and the West Gate Crane Technology Park won't be split into different time zones.

The Park's Greene County section would be on Eastern Time and Daviess and Martin Counties would be on Central Time if no further changes are made.
