Bedford Police Officer Honored

BEDFORD—The Exchange Club honored Bedford police officer Major Sam Craig as “Officer of the Year” yesterday.

Police Chief David Jarrard nominated Craig for "outstanding work ethic and responsibility." Craig, a 20-year veteran of the department, currently serves as the detective commander responsible for the oversight of criminal investigations. Craig began his career at the Bedford Police Department in 1984 as a communications officer taking administrative and emergency phone calls. He was hired as a sworn officer in October of 1985. During his career, he has served as a patrolman, detective, detective captain, uniform captain, and detective commander holding the rank of major.
