Shoals Man Jumps Into White River

BEDFORD—A Shoals man is in the Lawrence County Jail after fleeing from police and jumping into White River.
The situation began when Bedford Polcie tried to stop 23-year-old Jesse D. Burton at 28th Street and Mitchell Road.
Burton took off in his truck crossing State Raod 37 and heading south on Riverbluff Road. Slidding through a curve, Burtun crashed into a tree. He jumped out of his vehicle, went down a hillside and leaped into White River.
Polcie officers were able to pull Burton out of the chilly waters. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail where he was incarcerated.
Capt. Steve Gilbert, Officer Jeremy Bridges and Officerr Kyle Brown assisted in the incident.
