Area Businesses Hire And Fire Employees

BLOOMINGTON—While Bloomington lost 525 jobs when G.E. laid off workers last year, and Otis Elevator ceased operations, new jobs were created by Cook, Baxter and Cook Pharmica, the biggest economic relief was hearing that Crane was not affected by the base closures, thus saving Crane’s 4,000 jobs.
