Mitchell grad, solider, dies on Thanksgiving Day

MITCHELL—20-year old Private Second Class Tyler Lee Shafer died on Thanksgiving Day at Scott White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Shafer was the son of Michael and Tammi Schoen Shafer. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 2004.
The day before Shafer died he was in a car wreck and taken to the hospital for treatment. The Shafer family was told by the Army that Tyler died because of a lack of oxygen to his brain.
The obituary notice received by our news department states Private Shafer enjoyed his time in the Army and was proud to serve his country.
