Christmas returning next year

Last updated on Monday, December 12, 2005

BEDFORD—WBIW listener, Ray M. Lindsey e-mails that he is encouraged that the alternative media is getting the message out that Christ will be back in Christmas next year.

Because of the efforts of many polite, but deeply concerned people, retailer Walgreens says their advertising will better incorporate the word "Christmas" and next year their holiday trees will be called Christmas trees. Unfortunately, all of this year's December ads are already printed, so it's too late to make changes for this season.

In Addition, Lowe's has released a statement saying they now refer to all trees as "Christmas Trees" and have removed all signs that previously called them "Holiday Trees."

The American Family Association has been very active in encouraging people to politely send a letter or ask a change be made. Retailers are re-thinking their banning Christmas.

It may be that Wal-Mart and Kmart will make Christmas an integral part of their promotions and advertising next year.
