Chris Lee guest speaker at Rotary Club
BEDFORD—You should have been there! Major Chris Lee, son of Bob and Marge Lee, was the guest speaker yesterday at the Rotary Club’s luncheon-meeting at S & L. Recently returned from Afghanistan, Major Lee had slides and commentary that proved time and again our troops are accomplishing remarkable achievements working to train the Afghan army, and help the Afghan people.
He assured his audience that the Afghans are hungry for freedom, and once they realize they can trust the Americans, they are eager to cooperate in helping them root out the Taliban. He showed pictures of schools, orphanages, hospitals, the troops had built or repaired!
Rotary member Euretta Griggs asked Chris why the media never shows us the positive side of the war. Major Lee recalled that journalists who spent time with them were awed by the positive and reported what they had witnessed to their higher-ups, only to have those stories canned rather than making the evening news. Positive news about the war doesn't fit their agenda.
