SPENCER—Bidding ended Thursday on a one-square-inch piece of land in Owen County put up for auction on E-Bay. The bidding began at $1,500, which is the minimum amount for which any plot of land may be sold at the county tax sale.

At first, online bidders seemed reluctant to purchase the plot. However, at least four bids have now been made, pushing the asking price up to almost $1,700.

The one-inch square is landlocked and sits near Cagles Mill Lake. If an acre of land were sold at the same price per square inch, the total cost of the land would exceed $7-billion.
