Local Businesses Silent During Time Zone Preference Meeting

Last updated on Wednesday, September 28, 2005

BEDFORD—Those local businesses who wanted to appear before the Lawrence County Commissioners to explain why they believe the Eastern time zone is by far more conducive to interstate commerce found that the decision was made in an informal way, in private.

Before they could be heard, the Commissioners sent a letter to the U. S. Department of Transportation stating the county preference. Local businesses were not given an opportunity at a public hearing to have their views heard.

Disappointing!
