(UNDATED) - Attention, drivers - March 3rd-10th is National Sleep Awareness Week.

Did you know that drowsy driving can be just as dangerous as drinking and driving? Drowsy driving causes more than 1,500 deaths per year and nearly 10 percent of all road accidents.

Laura Adams, safety analyst at DriversEd.com says getting enough sleep, avoiding late car rides and being aware of your medication's side effects are crucial to everyone's safety on the road.

The week-long "Begin with Sleep" campaign will provide valuable information about the benefits of optimal sleep and how sleep affects health, well-being, and safety.

Other tools available include the National Sleep Foundation's Bedtime Calculator, which encourages individuals to plan their sleep.

The National Sleep Foundation has released the results of its recent Sleep in America® poll, fielded alongside the organization's quarterly Sleep Health Index®.
