(BLOOMINGTON) - A fraternity at Indiana University is looking at a suspension, but no one is saying why.

IU sent a cease and desist order to the Chi Omega fraternity last week.

The school says the fraternity is forbidden from hosting any parties or meetings until its suspension is lifted.

But neither IU leaders nor the fraternity's national office is saying what the chapter did to earn the suspension.

The national office did release the following statement:

The Chi Omega Executive Headquarters was made aware yesterday that Indiana University is currently investigating allegations involving our Theta Beta Chapter. During the investigation, some chapter activities have been postponed, though the extent to which is still unknown at this time. We will partner with the University as the investigation and due process continue. Chi Omega Fraternity does not tolerate harassment, hazing, or bullying of any kind and prohibits any activity that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a person. In fact, Chi Omega members are educated on expectations for membership, and as a condition of membership, each individual bears the personal responsibility to abide by applicable federal, state and local laws and college/university rules and regulations, as well as Chi Omega policies, rules and procedures.
