(BEDFORD) - A new TASC bus named Hero is celebrating local men and women that give their all to the community.
The Transportation Authority of Stone City bus recognizes those employed at the Bedford Police Department and Lawrence Sheriff's Department officers, Bedford Fire Department firefighters, Indiana State Police troopers, Indiana Conservation officers and local paramedics from both hospitals.

Former Police Chief Dennis Parsley, who now serves as the TASC bus director asked Mayor Shawna Girgis to have Johnny's Signs wrap the bus with the faces of those who serve the public.
"TASC has wrapped buses since the mid- 90's with images that depict events or organizations that have an impact on the City of Bedford," says Parsley. " Mayor Girgis gave me permission to dedicate our newest bus to our local heroes; law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. The images on this bus are pictures of all our local heroes in action."
Parsley says it is not unusual for TASC to receive more than 300 calls a day requesting transportation. The six, 16-passenger TASC buses served more than 35,400 passengers.
"Our buses have traveled more than 200,000 miles already this year, so these pictures will be in the public eye a lot," Parsley added. "This is our way of saying "thank you" for the protection and service these organizations provide."
