(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton announced his plans to seek re-election on Tuesday, with an energetic crowd joining him at Monroe County Democratic Party Headquarters.
"During the past three years, my administration has outlined and implemented a clear vision for Bloomington, to make this a more accessible, more successful, and more sustainable city for people from all walks of life," said Mayor John Hamilton. "We've made great progress together toward a better economy with good jobs, toward hundreds of more homes affordable to a wide range of our residents, toward a more sustainable community, and toward a city government more transparent, accountable, innovative, and efficient than ever before."
During his brief remarks, Hamilton also announced campaign co-chairs, staff members and volunteers for his re-election effort, listing co-chairs: former State Senator Vi Simpson, former Mayor Tomilea Allison, City Clerk Nicole Bolden, City Council member Susan Sandberg, MCCSC School Board members Cathy Fuentes-Rohwer and Sue Wanzer, Don Griffin, Israel Herrera, William Hosea, Maqube Reese, Forrest Gilmore, and former Congressman Lee Hamilton.
Hamilton also named his campaign manager, Kaisa Goodman, former Executive Director of the Monroe County Democratic Party, as well as several key volunteers for the campaign including Morgan Allen, Tom Miller, and Alex Rosselli.
"There is plenty of time to get into the details of what we have been accomplishing together over the past three years, and our challenges and opportunities ahead," Hamilton continued. "Let's all enjoy the holidays and celebrate the conclusion of our Bicentennial Year -- please consider joining Dawn and me for a community-wide celebration at City Hall on New Year's Eve from 5:30 to 8 pm. And we look forward to a positive conversation early next year about how our community is doing, and the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead."
