Martin County Sheriff Deputy's Vehicle Forced Off Roadway, Three Arrested

(LOOGOOTEE) - Three people are behind bars for forcing a Martin County Sheriff deputy's vehicle off the roadway Tuesday night in Loogootee.

According to the sheriff's department, Deputy Cody Shinn was patrolling Park Street in Loogootee when he met a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the road. Shinn pulled his vehicle off the road to avoid a collision, turned the squad car around and began a pursuit.

The vehicle pulled into Redwing Trailer Court and the driver exited on foot.

Two female passengers in the vehicle were detained and requested assistance from Deputy Tyler Reed and his K-9 Virka. Deputies identified the female passengers as 22-year-old Aaliyah Bricker and 20-year-old Equonya Ingram both of Frankfort.

While on his way to assist, Deputy Reed saw a male walking away from the scene near Bowler Manufacturing. Deputy Reed detained the male - 22-year-old Jordan Taylor, of Loogootee and transported him back to the scene.

K-9 Virka alerted police to possible drugs in the vehicle near the rear passenger side door. Officers found narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

All three were arrested were transported to the Martin County Jail

All three are facing charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia,

Taylor is also facing charges of false informing, reckless driving, driving while his driver's license was suspended with a prior conviction and leaving the scene of an accident. He was being held in the Martin County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Both Ingram and Bricker are being held on $25,000 bonds.

Ingram was also wanted on warrants in both Carroll and Boone County on drug offenses.

Martin County deputies were assisted by Loogootee City Police, the Shoals Town Marshal's Office and Indiana State Police.
