Lawrence County Commissioners Address Oolitic & Bedford Issues

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County commissioners met Friday morning to discuss several issues related to areas inside the county.

A member of the Oolitic Town Council, Glenn Gross, addressed the commission looking for avenues of assistance with monetary and equipment procurement for his town.

The commissioners offered several suggested avenues of assistance to help 0olitic with financing avenues to their needed repairs on the town garage, police vehicles and other equipment. No formal commitment was made.

Gross asked if disolution was an option for his town, but he was told by the Commission that this was a decision to be made at the Oolitic local level.

County Highway Director David Holmes also gave a report on the completion of several bridge projects on Stove Road, Otis Park and Bridge 121. A preliminary review will be started for the possible removal of a bridge on Lincoln Avenue to modify it to a fill-in roadway.

Sheriff Mike Branham gave a report indicating that the current capacity at the Lawrence County Jail was totaling 146 inmates with no issues to report.
