Child Dies In Multiple Vehicle Accident On US 50 West Near Huron

(HURON) - A multiple vehicle crash on US 50 West near Huron Friday night left a 10-year-old girl dead and a woman seriously injured.

Lawrence County police say 10-year-old Andrea Wigley of Loogootee died at the scene from her injuries.

She was wearing only a lap seatbelt.

Three others were injured during the incident.

30-year-old Crystal Schofield of Loogootee was flown by medical helicopter to a Louisville hospital for treatment. Wigley was a passenger in Schofield's vehicle.

14-year-old Abigail Sorrell of Shoals suffered injuries to her entire body. 22-year-old Tanner Sorrells, also of Shoals, complained of arm pain. Both were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

According to two witnesses, Schofield who was traveling east on US 50 West near Huron Williams Road in a 2017 Hyundai Accent and crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and collided with a 2003 GM Sierra driven by Tanner Sorrells. A 2107 Nissan Frontier driven by 66-year-old Robert Green who was traveling behind Sorrells's pickup then collided into the rear of the pickup.

Schofield's vehicle then ran off the road into a ditch.
