Last updated on Tuesday, December 11, 2018

(JENNINGS CO.) - A 41-year-old Brownstown man was uninjured in a wreck that left a North Vernon woman dead and another injured on U.S. 50 in eastern Jennings County Monday morning.

According to Lt. Mike Mowery of the Jennings County Sheriff's Department, Jason Hamm was traveling east on US 50 when his 2013 Ford F159 pickup sideswiped a westbound 2001 Dodge 2500 pickup driven by 27-year-old Brittany Comer, of Holton.

The accident happened at 6:41 a.m. at the Jennings and Ripley county line.

Comer's truck continued down the road, went left of the center line and struck an eastbound 2014 Ford Focus being driven by 44-year-old Michelle Hoover, of North Vernon.

The head-on crash forced Hoover's car on top of a guardrail where it came to a stop. Hamm's truck, still attached to Hoover's car, came to a stop in the eastbound lane, east of the crash.

Hoover was pronounced dead at the scene. Comer suffered minor injuries. Hamm was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
