According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steven Kellams, officers responded to the area of North Lindbergh Drive and West 12th Street after a vehicle crashed in the area and the driver fled the scene.

While officers were en-route, dispatch received a call from a woman who told police her boyfriend had been driving the vehicle and fled the scene because he claimed he had been shot at multiple times by Zion Conner.

After police arrived on the scene the victim returned to his vehicle.

"Officer noted that both rear windows had been shot out," says Capt. Kellams. "Officers also located another vehicle parked in the area that had damage caused by a bullet."

The driver told investigators that he believed the car Conner was in had followed him from a nearby convenience store.

The victim told police after leaving a convenience store, the driver of the car pulled up behind him and began honking his horn, so the victim slowed, rolling down the driver's window to see who was in the car.

The victim told police the driver pulled up alongside his car and Conner who was in the passenger seat of the vehicle began firing multiple rounds from a handgun at the victim.

After being shot at, the victim drove through a grassy area in an attempt to get away from the two men, where he collided with a utility pole and eventually another parked car.

On Tuesday, detectives located Conner at a home in the 2300 block of South Rockport Road. Conner was taken arrested without incident on charges of attempted murder and criminal recklessness.

Officer armed with a search warrant seized three handguns.

Capt. Kellams says the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Bloomington Police at (812) 339-4477.
