(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after a woman says he slapped her.
Lawrence County deputies were called to a home in the 1320 block of Trogden Lane at 10:43 a.m. Sunday.
When deputies arrived, a woman told police 20-year-old Dustin Cox of Bedford had struck her with an open hand in the face.
A family member who witnessed the incident tried to intervene and was pushed onto a bed by Cox.
The family member then threw an ashtray at Cox striking him on the head leaving a cut on his forehead.
"There were several children present during this altercation and officers subsequently arrested Cox without incident," says Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults.
Cox is facing a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a child.
