Arts Commission Approves Arts In The Parks And Historic Sites Grants For 2019

Last updated on Thursday, December 13, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today the approval of 73 projects for the 2019 Arts in the Parks and Historic Sites program.

"Each year we continue to see increased interest from artists and arts organizations in being part of sharing the arts in a non-traditional environment," said Anna Tragesser, IAC Artist, and Community Services Manager. "We saw an increase in the number of individual artists submitting proposals, and the projects will take place in 27 of the state's 33 park properties and eight of its 11 historic sites."

The 73 grants, totaling $213,385.90 were approved by the Commission during its December 7, 2018, Quarterly Business Meeting in Carmel, Indiana.

Arts in the Parks and Historic Sites funds art activities that encourage visitors to create and experience art that celebrates the uniqueness of Indiana's historic sites, parks, lakes, and forests. The program draws upon traditional and non-traditional arts and artists in Indiana, weaving the arts into the state's natural beauty and rural settings.

Arts in the Parks and Historic Sites is a partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Indiana State Historic Sites.
