Woman Arrested After Driving Car Into Area Where Children Were Playing

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested Friday afternoon after police received several calls of an unwanted female at Hamilton Courts.

When police arrived at 1:20 p.m. they found 52-year-old Karla Pierce in an apartment.

Police found her vehicle parked in a grassy area near several apartments where children were playing.

Chief Terry Moore says Pierce drove the vehicle to go purchase cigarettes and then parked it in the grass near where the children were playing.

"She showed the usual sign of intoxication and refused to take a chemical test," Chief Moore added. "Officers found legend drugs inside her purse."

Pierce was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle with child endangerment, OWI with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15 percent or greater, OWI refusal and possession of a legend drug.
