Linton Man Arrested For Attempted Murder After Stabbing Girlfriend

(LINTON) - A Linton man was arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend Wednesday night.

The woman suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

Police arrested 33-year-old Derrick Christopher Harper on charges of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony; battery by means of a deadly weaspon, a Level 5 felony, possession of meth, a Level 6 felony and public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor.

Harper had just been out of jail for three days when this incident happened.

According to court records he was arrested on Sunday, Noveber 4 on charges of stalking, two counts of intimidation, criminal trespassing, resisting law enforcement and criminal mischief.

While in jail the state filed another charges against Harper - battery resulting in bodily injury.

He had an initial injury on Tuesday, Nov. 13. His public defender Alan Baughman asked the court to lower Haper's bond which was set at $10,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Judge Dena Martin denied that motion. He was released a week later.

He is now being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.
