Lawrence County Commissioners Approve Contractors For Repairs For Lawrence County Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Project

Last updated on Tuesday, November 27, 2018

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Commissioners approved three contractors - Anderson Construction, KD Mendenhall and K&K Construction - to complete home improvements to 12 homes in rural Lawrence County as part of the Lawrence County Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Project.

This program ensures that low-to-moderate income families can get necessary repairs to their home," says Commissioner President Rodney Fish. "If repairs are not made, they have the potential to impact the integrity of the home and the health of those living there."

The grant is provided to selected applicants for the rehabilitation of low-to-moderate income residents in owner-occupied housing. Preference is given to seniors, families with children and persons with disabilities. Eligible activities include minor repairs to an inoperable or faulty furnace, leaking roof or unsafe electrical wiring and plumbing as well as lead-based paint abatement and mold remediation.

Construction will begin on December 3rd and must be completed by January 31, 2019.
