(JASPER) - Kimball Electronics Group of Jasper, Indiana, has achieved STAR re-certification in the Indiana Voluntary Protection Program, the Indiana Department of Labor announced today.
The Kimball Electronics facility is part of a select group of workplaces that have exceeded occupational safety and health expectations and demonstrated a commitment to putting the well-being of Hoosier workers first.
The STAR status is part of the Voluntary Protection Program, which provides recognition to Hoosier employers that operate exemplary safety and health management systems. Certification in VPP is an achievement that identifies employers who serve as model worksites for Hoosier workplace safety and health.
"The State of Indiana needs large companies to make occupational safety and health a priority, and Kimball Electronics is an excellent example," said Indiana Department of Labor Commissioner Rick J. Ruble. "We thank Kimball Electronics for its determination to keep Hoosier workers safe."
Kimball Electronics' Jasper manufacturing location was established in 1961 to build electronic organs. The location offers complete product lifecycle support for electronic manufacturing assemblies in the medical, industrial, automotive, and public safety market segments. The facility houses a workforce of 519 employees.
The Jasper facility has been successful in limiting and eliminating workplace incidents over the past three years, having only a few incidents per year. The facility's three-year Total Case Incident Rate is 10 percent below the 2016 national average.
