Last updated on Thursday, November 29, 2018

(BEDFORD) - Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital and Southern Indiana Physicians are offering a new walk-in service at the medical facility in Lawrence County.

Beginning Monday, the walk-in service will offer treatment of primary care-related, non-emergency conditions.

The office is located behind the hospital in the Medical Office Building, 2900 W. 16th St.

No appointment is necessary. The walk-in will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays.

"Our new walk-in service is perfect for when you have those nagging sniffs, sprains and scratches but can't get into your primary care doctor," said IU Health Bedford Hospital President Brad Dykes in a press release. "We have expanded our staff and are thrilled to offer yet another level of local service and convenience."

Patients will be seen by IU Health/Southern Indiana Physicians staff Jamais Nottger, nurse practitioner, and Melinda Pace, physician assistant.

"Our goal is to serve you as efficient and cost effective as possible, as we get you back home to recover," Dykes says. "The walk-in is another example of our promise as the state's most comprehensive health care system."

According to the news release, the walk-in provides a convenient, practical solution to receiving treatment and recommendations for common conditions such as fever, sore throat, earache, minor cuts that need stitches, acute neck or back pain, puncture wounds, runny nose, sinus trouble, chronic cough, skin rashes and sunburn. The walk-in also offers flu and tetanus shots.
