Ice Brings Down Trees Across Forest Service Roads And Trails

Last updated on Monday, November 19, 2018

(UNDATED) - It will take months for Hoosier National Forest staff to remove trees that fell during an ice storm on November 15.

Many trees have fallen across Forest Service roads and trails in the Tell City Ranger District of the Hoosier National Forest.

The staff is diligently working to remove the trees, first on roads so the staff has access, then on the recreational trails used by hikers, hunters, mountain bikers and horse riders.

Due to the number of trees down and the large area that has to be covered, this process may take several months.

Visitors should use caution as some trees could fall over the coming weeks.

The public is advised to contact the Tell City Ranger District Office at (812) 547-7051 for updates on the situation.
