Last updated on Monday, November 12, 2018

(FRENCH LICK) - The cause of a fire that destroyed Fox Hollow Gallery Tuesday evening in French Lick remains under investigation.

At 7 p.m., French Lick Fire Department Chief Aaron Kemple requested firefighters to the antique store after seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from the two-story building.

Shortly after the hose lines were placed, the fire began to break through the roof.

More than 30 firefighters, from French Lick, West Baden, and Orange County Rural District 1 fire departments, fought the inferno for six hours before it was under control.

An adjoining building sustained some roof damage.

The owners of Fox Hollow Gallery Virgil and Darlene Hoffman say the building was "a total loss." The building was constructed in 1900.
