Last updated on Monday, October 1, 2018

(BEDFORD) - Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 37 and Partick Robbins Way on Friday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, 22-year-old Brandon Burns of Bedford was in the far lane traveling north on State Road 37. Police say 32-year-old Amber McCleery of Orleans was in front of Burns in a 2002 Kia Sedona and told police she had stopped for a yellow light at the intersection of State Road 37 and Patrick Robbins Way when her car was hit in the rear by Burns' 2003 Ford F-450.

Burns told police he wasn't sure what happened, saying he was not sure if McCleery attempted to merge over into his lane.

Police say both drivers could not accurately advise how the collision initially occurred.

After the collision, both vehicles went off the roadway and down an embankment.

McCleery had two small children in the back seat of her vehicle in child restraints. One of those children, 6-year-old Oliva McCleery suffered a large laceration to the back of her head. She was transported by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment. The other child was not injured.

Amber McCleery suffered a facial laceration.

Burns was not injured.
