Strides: Lions for Diabetes Awareness Walk/Run

(BEDFORD) — Members of the Bedford Lions Clubs expect around 150 people to walk or run in the Strides: Lions for Diabetes Awareness event Nov. 14 in observance of World Diabetes Day.

Strides promote diabetes awareness and the importance of healthy exercise for people with diabetes or those at risk for the disease.

The event will step off at the Downtown Depot, at the corner of 14th and J streets. Total distance covered will be about 2 miles.

From 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. there will be free diabetes testing available. Dr. Kamal Girgis from Southern Indiana Physicians will present a seminar on diabetes from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Walker/Runners will step off around Downtown Trail from the Depot at 11 a.m.

Healthy snacks will be provided.

Entry fee is $20 and includes T-shirt if pre-registered. Walkers/Runners can register by contacting the Lions Club at 812-275-3657 or before 10:30 a.m. on the day of the race.
