Last updated on Tuesday, October 30, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Monroe Co. Sheriff released the names of the victims involved in the fatal shooting at an off-campus Halloween party at Eagle’s Nest.

Officers were called to 2250 East Pointe Road at 12:30 a.m. Sunday after a report of a fight and shots fired. Indiana University's chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi organized Saturday night's off-campus Halloween party - "A Nightmare in B-Town." More than 300 people attended the event with many being from out of town.

21-year-old Kemontie Johnson of Indianapolis died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the neck, according to Monroe County Coroner Joani Shields. He also suffered gunshot wounds to his nose, left shoulder, back, left hand, right forearm and two wounds to his legs. Many of the bullets passed through Johnson's body.

Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain says according to witnesses, the shooter accused Johnson of causing problems. The shooter left the party briefly and returned and began firing a semi-automatic handgun.

19-year-old Rayshawn Walker of Fort Wayne suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He remains in critical condition at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

20-year-old David Walters of Fort Wayne suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and was treated and released.

Sheriff Swain says they have identified the shooter, but are not releasing that information at this time. He added the shooter is not from Bloomington and the public is in no danger.

Authorities are asking witnesses to come forward anonymously with information by calling Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS or the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 812-349-2534.

A vigil took place Monday night at Showalter Fountain to honor Kemontie Johnson. More than 300 people gathered to light candles, say prayers and remember the young man.

Before the crowd dispersed, IU Provost Lauren Robel spoke to the crowd.
