(BEDFORD) - The public is invited to celebrate GM Bedford Casting Operations 75th anniversary.

The celebration will take place on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Former employees and retirees are encouraged to attend.

Those attending can tour the plant throughout the day with the last tour at 6 p.m. People younger than 12 or those unable to walk during the 30-minute tour will be given a guided tour in a golf cart. Closed-toe shoes must be worn to take a tour. Participants aren't allowed to wear tank tops or sleeveless shirts. Safety glasses and ear protection will be provided.

Each tour participant will receive 75th anniversary dog tags while supplies last.

Food trucks including Pili Party Taco, Red Frazier Bison Burgers, Great White Smoke, Busy B'z Kettle Corn and JD's Taste of Chicago Dogs will provide food for a fee beginning at 5 p.m.

Denson Avenue will perform from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Grand Torino will play from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

There will be an antique car show as well as new car displays from local dealerships.

There will be hands-on activities for children. They will even make their own casting to keep.

Because of limited parking at the plant, those attending are asked to park the former Oakland City College parking lot near H Street where shuttle buses will transport passengers to and from the facility. The last pickup from the plant will be at 6 p.m.
