Oolitic Town Council Expected To Vote On Water Rate Increase Tonight

Last updated on Monday, October 29, 2018

(OOLITIC) - The Oolitic Town Council is expected to vote on a 42 percent water rate increase tonight.

The meeting will be held at town hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Financial Solutions Group, a consulting firm based in Plainfield, conducted a water rate survey and says the water rate increase is long overdue.

The town buys its water from Bedford Utilities. Over the past several years, Bedford has increased what it charges Oolitic, but the town absorbed those increases without raising water rates.

Based on an average household consuming 5,000 gallons per month, the cost would increase that household's water bill from $34 to $48.
