Murphy, 27, died in the line of duty last year at the scene of a crash along Old Highway 50, just west of County Road 100 South.

Murphy was struck and killed by a pick-up truck driven by 26-year-old Colby Blake of Cannelburg. Blake, a fellow volunteer firefighter.

This week firehouses and other buildings are lit up in the yearly remembrance known as Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters. The Montgomery Fire Station and the Murphy Home are part of that lighting and the dome of St. Peters Church may be lit up to remember fallen firefighters.
