Local Law Enforcement Stress Safety Issues During Trick Or Treat

Last updated on Wednesday, October 31, 2018

(BEDFORD) - Local law enforcement says children 12-years-old or younger should not be alone at night without adult supervision and that all trick-or-treaters should stick to familiar and well-lit streets.

Motorists are reminded to drive slowly and to anticipate pedestrian traffic.

Law enforcement also encourages drivers to activate their vehicle's headlights early and to take extra precaution as children may act erratically and in unpredictable ways.

Residents are reminded to carry a flashlight and to consider the use of reflective materials in costume designs for additional visibility.

Parents are asked to remind their children that they should never enter the home of someone they don't know. Suspicious activity, tainted candy and other threats to public safety should be reported to local police departments immediately.
