I-69 Section 5 Construction Update - Single Lane Restrictions Needed for Punch List Work

Last updated on Friday, October 5, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Crews continue working on numerous punch list items throughout the I-69 Section 5 corridor, and motorists should be aware of single lane restrictions on I-69 where finish work is being performed.

Slope grading, inlet and pipe cleaning, stone placement, drainage adjustments, and signage installation are some of the ongoing construction activities. In the northern segment of the construction zone, lane restrictions will remain in place for final striping and placement of reflective pavement markings as weather permits.

Finish paving operations continue on access roads, which will be followed by guardrail installation, pavement markings, and clean-up work.

Tomorrow, October 6, the right lane of eastbound 2nd Street (SR 45) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow crews to work through punch list items.

Next week, there will be both daytime and nighttime lane restrictions at the 2nd Street (SR 45) and 3rd Street (SR 48) interchanges.

From Monday, October 8 through Wednesday, October 10, the right lanes of both eastbound and westbound 2nd Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow crews to finish punch list items. Night time restrictions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. will be in place all week for the installation of traffic signal sensors.

Also beginning Monday, October 8, there will be intermittent shoulder and lane restrictions on the ramps at 2nd Street as crews begin removing the existing high mast lighting towers in preparation for installation of new high mast units. This lighting work at 2nd Street will be ongoing for the next two weeks.

From Tuesday, October 9 through Thursday, October 11, the right lanes of both eastbound and westbound 3rd Street (SR 48) will be closed to allow crews to work on punch list items. Night time restrictions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. will be in place all week for the installation of traffic signal sensors.

All construction activity is weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change. Motorists are urged to be aware of changing traffic conditions on both mainline I-69 and in and around the 2nd and 3rd Street interchanges.

The speed limit throughout the I-69 Section 5 construction zone remains 45 miles per hour.
