First Mobile Home Tax Sale Is Wednesday In Lawrence County Courthouse

Last updated on Tuesday, October 30, 2018

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County will hold the first mobile home tax sale in the state in the courthouse lobby on Wednesday, October 31st at 10 a.m.

Treasurer Paula Stewart says there are currently 40 mobile homes with delinquent payments in Lawrence County.

"We are getting lots of calls from both owners and interested parties," she added.

But she's hopeful multiple notices sent to the owners will result in the county collecting most of the more than $17,000 owed before the sale.

In January the county had more than 700 delinquent properties, at just a little over $200,000.

"Taxpayer response has been outstanding," Stewart added. " Many folks have come in to pay and also to receive information. Some have judgment filings that were unknown. This process already qualifies as a huge success without ever getting to the actual sale."

People must pay the taxes owed before 4:30 p.m. today. No payments will be taken the day of sale.

Residents with questions or concerns can stop by the office or call 812-275-2431.
