City Of Bloomington Utilities To Conduct Water Main Testing On South Side October 18

Last updated on Wednesday, October 17, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Crews from the City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will be testing the water infrastructure on the south side of Bloomington on Thursday, October 18.

The testing is being performed in anticipation of the repositioning of a 36" water transmission main necessitated by the Monroe County Fullerton Pike Corridor Reconstruction Phase I project. Project contractor Weddle Brothers Construction will lower the existing main on or near October 29 to allow for the road grade on Walnut Street Pike south of Rhorer Road to be cut down approximately three feet. Until the primary main is returned to service around November 9, CBU will be utilizing a secondary water transmission main.

In order to test the secondary main in advance of the temporary switch, CBU crews will be checking and exercising valves in the Peppergrass neighborhood and surrounding area (as indicated in the map below) starting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18. Customers in this area may notice increased water pressure and/or discoloration. If cloudy or discolored water occurs, allow the tap to run until the water flows clear. If problems persist, customers may contact CBU at 812-339-1444.
