Bedford Man Arrested After Fighting with Police

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police received a call of a possible intoxicated man in 1700 block of L street Friday night.

"Officers responded to the area after a call of an intoxicated male attempting to drive," says Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore.

Officers located the male, who showed signs of intoxications.

The male, 34-year-old Jason Phillips gave officers permission to search him.

"Officer found meth and drug paraphernalia," Chief Moore added. "When officers attempted to place Mr. Phillips in handcuff he resisted several times after being asked numerous times to stop."

Officers had to forcibly place Phillips in handcuff after Phillips attempted to reach several times for officers' guns.

Phillips was transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of possession of meth, battery on a police officer, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia.
