(SALEM) - The Indiana Department of Transportation has issued a permit to the City of Salem allowing the Washington County community to close State Road 135/State Road 60 or Main Street in downtown Salem this Friday between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
During the closure, activities for Friday Night on the Square will take place surrounding the courthouse.
Salem police officers will provide traffic control.
A local detour will route southbound S.R. 135/S.R. 60 motorists from Main Street to Walnut Street to Water Street. Northbound travelers will detour from Main Street to Poplar Street to High Street.
The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event will accommodate street vendors and various attractions--with extended store hours at shops on the historic Salem Courthouse Square.
